STOP TELLING THE TRUTH
!
Folk's we have no affiliation what so ever with the commercial Pet store PawZazz,
EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary, what so ever.
Their is one original PAWS in this town and its Puffy.
I find it very strange that I received inside information that one of the top level personal
at EARS at one time was actually looking into closing Puffy Paws Kitty Haven down by checking into the zoning laws .This information
came out of the mouth of a former employee at EARS.
I was told just a few weeks
ago that I should be careful because Puffy Paws was not zone for an animal shelter and phone calls to zoning was basically
in the cards due to my writings about EARS or was Code called because of the green dumpster that Waste Management dropped
off in our front yard. Or did two phone calls to Code occurred ?
That is the reason
why I took this investigated report off the Web site. The truth was out their and as you can see I exposed this group for
what they are. EARS took a major direct hit by my writings in ways you can not image.
And
code enforcement was called on Puffy Paws about our zoning. As Gomer Pyle use to say " Surprise, Surprise,
Surprise ". We were not surprise at all and we knew it was coming
You see, EARS
never wanted the general public to know about their misdealing. They let their folks on the E-mail list know a police report
was filed but not the severity of it.
They filed the police report on May 18th about
Jim North allegedly embezzling 300,000 and no one reported it in the media.
Than in
October some folks alerted the major media companies that an actual police report existed, only after we found it, after only
four times in trying to locate it and the rest is history !
Now you be the judge.
Would you like your dirty laundry leaked to the news media, the general public and your donors, who gave you almost a million
dollars to build a sanctuary ? And your group as nothing to show for it execpt for a commerical pet store which never was
the reason for all those fund rasiers in the first place.
I'm sure someone out their
right now is trying to find a way to hold EARS Board of Directors personally fiscally responsible for the mismanagement of
funds.
Now EARS has an official scapegoat (Jim North ) for all their problems but EARS
never operated in a finical responsible manor when it came to the animals according to Desoto County, as you read.
I keep hearing "The Norths Are Gone" but the Norths according to EARS were the problem
.
As I see it the, along with the Norths, the whole Board of Directors are the problem
for the unwanted animals in the Community. They should be gone right out of the Pet Store business, I mean animal rescue business,
forever, only after they can come clean and be honest with what happen to their organization over the past 7 years.
How It Started
The reason
for this rant I wanted to expose EARS for what they are and I want a prudent person to come to this page and read the
facts and make a prudent decision for themselves.
It all started when I read the new press release from EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary that was put out to get monetary funds and pet food from the general public for their Pet Food Drive.
What really irked the kitties and I ,is the following statement
“ Please help feed the animals. EARS, is helping people with pet food which allows them to keep their pets rather
than surrendering them to already overcrowded shelters “
Ok first of who let EARS in to count the doggies
and kitties in the other area shelters ? And who made them God to pass judgment of who is over overcrowded or not ?
I know I did not let these righteous folks in any were.
First of all I must ask the kitties, did they remind EARS that over eighty cats who were admitted
into our program , were turned down for admission into their groups failed make - believe, brick & mortar sanctuary, pattern
after the Best Friend Sanctuary.
EARS
Animal Rescue Sanctuary, used to call themselves “ The go
to group “, they promised this community a Pet Sanctuary, to house thousands of animal and you folks believed them and
rewarded them with hundred of thousands of dollars, and five years latter still no sanctuary.
Today they give
out our phone number to admit cats in our program - they refused to take in.
Maybe if this group did what they
started out to do years ago.maybe the burden of homeless dogs and cats would have been shared by all rescue groups equally.
But instead they rewarded their two top former employees with a $7,000 a month salary and they gave you a commercial
Pet Store with cats in cages and no lights on at night.
Everyday they burden everyone with cats and dogs they refuse
to take because they do not have a sanctuary for them.
I even called this group and told them how we felt about
their derogatory press release.
A low level paid employee told me she will bring it up to the board and they will
change it. Well guess what ? Nothing was changed and they are still running the same press release.
No one
got back to me about this matter but what I did get was a nice letter in the mail from a board member requesting that I stop
saying derogatory things and untruths about the their organization. And them telling me that I’m only hurting the animals.
What animals am I hurting ? Does she mean the kitties that they refused to take in over the years, the ones Puffy Paws
took intoour program because they said no.
Folk’s your donation dollar at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven, goes directly
to the kitties that they refused to take in and not on fancy picnics, parties, fund raisers and salaries.
If nothing changes, nothing changes. EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary spin machine has been hard at work.
Folk’s I never said anything derogatory about this group I only spoke the truth about
the endeavors of this group. And if they consider the truth derogatory than that is on them.
I spoke on my own personal past and present experience with them and the last time I checked this
is America I have a right to my own personal opinion.
In
addition to this I can backup what I say because its all public record.
The facts are straight from newspaper articles, government documents , IRS tax returns, Florida State documents
and their own literature and e-mails that they put out.
As
you shall see.
I do not have to speak any untruths about this group when there is so much truth about their true
nature and its all public record
So the only thing wrong is that this group - “ CAN”T
HANDLE THE TRUTH “
And they don’t want the
public to know the truth !
So of course they want me to
shut my big mouth......... thats why they sent me a letter.
But
the kitties and I know the truth and its out their.
Just
ask me to tell the truth....I be glad to show you and verbally read you a bedtime story about them.
The story starts off like this this............
A BEDTIME STORY
On June 12th, 2008 when Puffy Paws, received information that EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary was opening
a retail shop and satellite adoption center named - PawZazz.
We knew this would create confusion in the general public in distinguishing
the two groups apart.
A PUBLIC NIGHTMARE
And
a year latter we were right. It's has been a total nightmare for us. Folk's are confusing us with them every single day.
Its
been a PR disaster for us. We never wanted to be associated with a group like EARS that has been surrounded in public controversy
through out the years but because of their own selfish doings, we are.
POO - PUFFY PAWS
Did you know Puffy Paws Kitty Haven was named
after a small sickly little kitten that was part of our family of kitties for only a year.
The kitten's name
was Poo-Puffy Paws, he was such a happy little Kitty and a brave little fighter. Sadly enough, he passed away during Hurricane
Charlie.
So to honor his memory; Co -Founder Chrissy Kingston decided to name the rescue, Puffy Paws Kitty Haven.
WHO CARES
But did EARS care “ NO ” !
They named their
" Profitable" commercial pet Store PawZazz, anyway.
Even after Puffy Paws Kitty Haven literally begged them and made a massive
public appeal to the community urging EARS not to go ahead with using the name PAWZAZZ.
We tried to set up a
meeting with EARS , we spoke to editors of Newspapers, we had editorials published expressing our concern, we had it on our
Web site, on Craig’s List.
CONCERN CITIZEN
A concern citizen wrote in to
the Sun Newspaper on July 14,2008 and she asked the right question abut EARS using donors funds to open their commercial
" High End Pet Store ".

EARS has had a lot of bad publicity in the news lately, again, regarding
their plans to build a shelter near folks in DeSoto county. Perhaps they should reconsider this name of their store
to show they CAN be good neighbors. Bobbi Austin
Please
don't confuse the public! Puffy Paws has worked hard to establish themselves as a rescue haven for cats...not a retail store!
Please choose another name!
Chris Kuhar
I agree that having two organizations for animals so close together in this ALREADY small town
would pose an issue for the public. Mind you most of our population is the elderly, and these names could very easily get
mixed up. Puffy Paws has worked too hard to get their name sake out there.
Dawn Stephens
Too many other
names to pick from...why use one so close to yours?
Dale S. Moore
I'm
sure you're both good groups and don't need useless confusion--better to be totally separate! AND I sincerely think PAWZAZZ
is an awful name with no perceptible meaning and hard to remember, as well. You can do better!
Anne
C.Megenity
Have respect for the other rescue, and change the name
of your shop. There are a million good choices out there, there's no reason or room
for competition in the rescue world.
Christine L Corson (President of Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue)
Ears should name the thrift shop to represent its' own name.
ie; EARS thrift shop?
Sandra Dussault
WELL THEY HAD
THERE NAME FIRST, I SAY NO!!
CATHY FAYE CARTER
NAME IS TOO CONFUSING
SECONDARY TO PUFFY PAWS IN SAME AREA.

These guys have worked real hard to earn the reputation that they
have!!! Just say NO to PAWZAZZ
Roe Mauro
Puffy Paws has done and is doing such a great
service I would hate to see anything happen which would hurt there commitment. They helped my wife and I heal a broken
heart by taking in our pet Sammie Rather then facing the alliterative.
Thanks to this wonderful couple
Jim &
Phyllis O’Donnell
I agree they sound very similar....
D. Alan Donnel
Please respect the wishes of Puffy Paws Kitty Haven and find another name that is not so
close to cause confusion. Our little friends need all the help they can get.
Denise Wishart
The Kingstons have almost single handedly established Puffy Paws
Kitty Haven as a loving environment for displaced cats. The Kingston's time and effort should be honored in this civic
minded endeavor that they have made their mission. As an alternative I'd suggest "Kit and Kaboodle" for the name
for the gift shop.
Thank you, Diane C Tippins
Pleez
cooperate with Puffy Paws !!
Maria Valletta
This is an amazing thing these people are doing,
providing a home for so many cats/kittens. I'm behind them.
Harley Hunter Please
do not use the name PAWZAZZ for your new center. it may cause confusion with the no-kill, already established,
PUFFY PAWS.
Naomi Voit
It would be to confusing.
They are a lot of places and names they could have moved to or named it. Please do not name
it the same
Kristina Bridgeman
 | |
Let these good people keep their name alone. To use the name "Pawzazz"
will create confusion for both. Lets be original, fine thee a new fresh and exciting name for your business. Please
"PAUSE" and think this thru.
Thank You and God Bless, Michelle Traylor
I believe Pawzazz is a good thing, but please do not
use the name because the general public may get confused with PuffyPaws, who has
worked hard for the past two years establishing its name!
Reid Carter
Please find another name to use!
Stuart Wishart
I think EARS should
use the name EARS as part of their shop and adoption center so they will also be recognized for all they are doing. I feel
really bad about Arcadia giving them a hard time, just like every other place they have tried to build the rescue center.
They have worked hard for a long time, and will not stop. I wish Puffy Paws all the best, and will try to help you in some
way very soon. Thank you for helping the kitties.
Amy Skaggs
I
have no problem with rescues opening up new branches to better serve the community, but I believe that EARS needs to
be more considerate of the preexisting Haven's name and respect the fact that this can confuse the local community in service.
People may give to Pawzazz thinking that it is the Puffy Paws Kitty Haven instead, or vice versa! It's a name-recognition
issue. Please consider just changing the name - that's it. Actually, I applaud the idea of this branch, just NOT the name.
Krystie Sedlmayer
Puffy
Paws Kitty Haven have saved and loved so many cats and kittens (without a doubt many more to come) no one should
take away or confuse any other place with Puffy Paws. After all its all about the kitties right??

So
now you know how this Community felt and did EARS listen "NO"!
We even listed Executive Director Jim North and Chairman Jaxzann Riggs, phone numbers on our Web
site for folk’s to call them and tell them how they felt.
We spoke to current board member Nancy Colby about
our concern and guess what folks ?
Not
one person from EARS ever return our phone calls to set up a meeting.
They snub us and treated us like dirt.
WE HAVE OUR NAME
We have worked two hard in establishing our name
in the Community. We only wanted the general public to absolutely distinguishes the two groups apart.
Like I said before ' It's a nightmare everyday I have to explain to people
that we are not on Dearborn, we are not EARS, we are not PawZazz.
This
issue has brought my wife and I to tears.
Please do not think we are them because if you only review their public record not the EARS PR Spin machine
- you will, not want to be associated with them either.
We only wanted
to be know for our great reputation and the work we do for taking care of the Communities unwanted kitties.
THE GOOD - THE
BAD & THE UGLY TRUTH
Here are the reasons reason why we never wanted to be associated with EARS
!
Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is made up
of all volunteers. No-one gets paid. Your donation dollars goes directly to the kitties not the folks who are taking care
of the kitties unlike EARS.
We are the least financially supported
of the rescues in the area and we take care care of the most unwanted kitties.
Here at Puffy
Paws we specialize in taking care of special need kitties that would have been euthanized because of their medical conditions.
SHOW ME THE MONEY
EARS has never publicly address these findings. You will be shocked !
This very special analysis on EARS Animal Rescue
Sanctuary's Federal Tax Returns, was obtained thru DeSota County just by requesting it. It was prepared by Administrative
Services director Jan Brewer of DeSoto County who oversees the activities of the Finance Department .
She prepared
the following report on EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary for the DeSota County Commissioners for review prior to the special exception
permit hearing EARS request, in order to build their Sanctuary in DeSoto County.
As you know on Monday, June 23,
2008, the DeSoto County Commissioners turned down EARS request.
You may contact Jan Brewer at the DeSoto County
Administration Building - 201 East Oak Street- Arcadia, Florida 34266 - Office Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday

Analysis of Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary
Tax Returns for
2003, 2004 .2005 & 2006
Prepared by Jan Brewer
Summary:
Based upon reviews of the 2003 , 2004. 2005 & 2006
tax returns the
following conclusions can be drawn.
The funds spend on
the “animals” is extremely minimal
2003 - $ 225 out of $31,263 = .71% of expenses
2004 -
$ 505 out of $30,504 = 1.60% of expenses
2005 - $ 802 out of $26,955 = 2.20% of expenses
Compensation
has occurred for a “ director ” or “ officer” but no names has been provided within the tax returns
2003 - $ 38,700
2004 - $ 15,100
2005 - $ 23,262
2006 - $ 9,416
In 2006 they have deducted
$2,511 in payroll taxes which is a salary of approx $33,000. They must be listing this within their consultants which list
at $63,683
Most expenses are spent on management and travel
Very
little business seems conducted on animals.
However they are telling the IRS they are focus on fund-raising for
the purpose of constructing a no-kill animal shelter ,which is sub purpose for the care of animals.
They spent
$143,933 for this purpose in 2006 and $77,889 for management for 2006. The total expense for the year was $221,822.
Again only $1,477 went to the animals directly
COOPERATE
WITH WHO ?
According
to Guide Star an clearinghouse for information on charities on their Federal Tax return. EARS listed as one their 2nd objective
on their 2006 federal tax returns:
" To form a coalition with all other humane organizations in our
region to pursue objectives of increasing public spay/neuters, creating an appropriate regulatory environment that results
in more responsible pet ownership, and cooperate with each organization to maximize adoptions. "
When
in fact, Puffy Paws Kitty Haven knows that this is not true in regard to us .
This is not the first time Ears Animal
Rescue Sanctuary has not cooperated with another Animal Rescue Group.

NOT TAKING CATS & RETURNING PHONE CALLS
Last year we have taken in more than fifty cats that EARS refused to
take in and the is a low count at best ! And since March 2009 we have took in 30 cats
that they refused to take.
Last year and this year, folk's from the Community always told us that EARS did not call them back
or did not call back in a timely fashion.
Cindy Ortiz wrote to us
" I am
also still waiting for a call back from EARS. Evidentially they are too busy planning other things ".
Terri Vaughn wrote
" I agree-the name
and location is too close with Puffy Paws. A friend of mine tried to call EARS and had to leave a message and they called
back after a few days but it was too late to bring in a feral cat cause it had left again and they would not take it anyways
he said."
On the lighter side a lady who was turned down by EARS
said " If she called EARS and left a message that she had a nice big donation for them she think she would
have received a call back that day."
Just a side note EARS gives out our number now when they refuse a cat.
WERE IS YOUR MONEY *(300,000 ) NOW ?
Food
For Thought
Before you read their E-mail.
Why didn't the Board of Directors nip this in the bud at the first sign of something that was not right ?
Why did they not do their job and safe guard the Community's donations for the animals ?
Why did they authorized so much money and their expenses to be to be paid to the North's ?
(Almost 90,000 a year )
Its seems that your donation dollar went to the people
who are taking care of the animals and not the animals. Now they have three employees: How much of your donation dollars is EARS paying out now to their people now ? Do they get benefits ?
It's your right to know.
All this deception leads me to believe that their adoption numbers of dogs and cats are not
accurate.
Just go back and look at what they claim as their adoption numbers in different
publications through out the years.
You
will see what I'm talking about.
Did you know when you become a foster for EARS they will
provided for (IF NEEDED) food and litter.
In the past they asked the foster to provide the food and
litter.
Think about it . How many nice fosters actually buys the food and cat litter
to save EARS money ?
Did you know that EARS does have a Vet who provides his
services for free to them and they just have to buy the meds.
If EARS
foster folks provide the animals pet food and litter.
Why do they need so much
money from this Community ?
How much do they spend on pet food and cat litter a day
?
How may case of wet food do they give their animals a day ?
How many bags of dry ?
How may bags of cat litter
do they go through a day ?
If they dare to answer these question's for you please
ask them to show you proof ask them for the receipts !
In closing ............
I hope this Community will hold EARS Board of Directors responsible for their
INCOMPETENT behavior.
Or is this Community going to be deceived and fooled by
EARS Spin Machine which is very hard at work, as of this writing.
Don't be
a dumb donor. Know were your dough goes !
WERE IS YOUR MONEY *(300,000 ) NOW ?
* Thats the amount of money that is alleged missing.
Obtain from the Sarasota County Sheriff Report
Last year EARS had bragged in an Editorial
in the paper that they have a million dollar piece of property and 200,000 dollars in the bank.
This year
according to an E-mail sent out by EARS............

Subject: A message from the
Board of EARS
__________________________________________________________________
TO OUR LOYAL SUPPORTERS
AND FRIENDS,
We know you have been waiting for a statement from the Board of Directors concerning changes
within EARS, particularly the termination of Jim and Carol North.
While we have been extremely busy behind
the scenes to uncover facts and reconstruct our business, we have been reluctant to make a public statement without proper
substantiation of the facts.
We apologize for keeping you wondering and recognize the confusion these past ten
weeks have caused our supporters, volunteers, and fosters and friends. We now offer our statement:
On March
26, Jim North, EARS Executive Director, notified the Board of Directors that there were not sufficient funds in the EARS bank
accounts to cover the employee payroll the following day.
When questioned about the financial status of EARS and
asked why we had not been notified of the shortfall sooner, the Board was told by Jim that there were funds coming in to cover
expenses and this was just a temporary liquidity management issue, and all other bills were paid in full.
The
President of the Board wrote a personal check to EARS to cover payroll. The Treasurer asked for detailed reports outlining
EARS expenses and even a cursory review of the information provided indicated that drastic cuts needed to be made immediately.
On May 9, the Executive Committee comprised of Mary Skaggs, Nancy Colby and Jaxzann Riggs, met to discuss salary
expenses and the financial status of EARS.
The primary responsibility of the Executive Director has always been
the procurement of funding and the management of financial matters for EARS.
Unfortunately Jim had failed
to make some of the very difficult decisions that needed to be made in order to keep EARS financially viable.
The
committee decided to reduce expenses by eliminating one position and modifying the Executive Directors compensation to be
based upon revenue generating results.
On May 12, the Executive Committee met with Jim. He was notified that the
board was eliminating two positions because we could no longer afford them.
The positions eliminated were Jim’s
consultant position and Carol’s employee position. Jim was told that the elimination of the positions would be
effective May 15.
At that time, Jim was also offered a commission-only sales position to develop business partner
relationships for EARS. He declined to make a decision at that time.
On May 15, by the close of business
that day, and upon learning that the EARS bank account was overdrawn, the offer for Jim to continue his relationship with
EARS was reconsidered. The board requested that all financial records and EARS property be returned to the EARS office
immediately.
The Executive Committee quickly began to uncover excessive spending by the Executive Director
and abuses of EARS funds for personal expenses, meals, mileage and purchases of unauthorized office and computer equipment,
phones and software.
It came to our attention that EARS had unpaid bills totaling over $15,000. The
bank accounts were overdrawn or near an overdraft condition, as verified by the banking institution.
A police
report was filed, an accounting firm was secured and legal advice was obtained, all at no cost to EARS.
While
the Executive Committee worked with authorities to unravel discrepancies, the staff remained loyal and hard working for our
animals and we tried to continue business as normal as possible.
In order for EARS to maintain the health-care
of the animals, pay the debt left from unpaid bills and pay staff and building costs, personal donations were made to EARS
by board member Jaxzann Riggs on May 17 in the amount of $5,000 and on May 21 in the amount of $15,000.
No
doubt you’ve heard rumors and untruths concerning the termination of the North’s.
We offer these facts:
· Beginning in 2008, the
Board repeatedly requested detailed financial information from Jim North concerning the expenses of EARS. The requests
were met with non-compliance and the typical promise that “the information would be available soon”.
When the Board authorized the opening of PawZazz, it was made very clear to Jim that the Board expected separate financial
statements and accounting for the two entities.
Month after month, the board was told that a break out of information
was not currently available but it would be forthcoming. We have since discovered that separate accounting records did in
fact exist, though there are still questions about their accuracy.
·
Unfortunately, The Board allowed Jim too much latitude, and not enough supervision. While we had growing doubts
concerning his reports to the board, we responded much too late, and did not begin to uncover the extent of excess spending
until after his dismissal.
· Expense reports for both
Jim and Carol North contained expenses for meals and mileage (including mileage to and from the office on almost a daily basis)
that would not have been authorized by the Board had the expenses been reported in a more transparent fashion.
Examples of personal spending that would have been disallowed were the payment of Jim and Carol’s Direct TV bill,
the cost of a pair of specialty shoes ($245) and meals purchased in Tennessee during the week of 5/22/08 (Jim North was never
authorized to conduct EARS business of any sort in Tennessee), and groceries purchased for a holiday party at the North’s
home.
While several Board members attended the holiday event, they were appalled to learn that EARS funds had
apparently paid for the meal. While the sum of these examples may not be large, they are indicative of a general attitude
toward EARS spending by the North’s that is totally unacceptable.
·
Our Budget Committee made very specific recommendations in November 2008 to reduce both general operating and personnel expenses.
The Budget Committee recommendations were not instituted by Jim North.
·
Board Member Jaxzann Riggs gave Jim North a personal check in November 2008 to pay the taxes on the EARS DeSoto county property.
In May 2009, the Executive Committee became aware that the check was not used to pay the taxes when the land was listed in
the newspaper on the Desoto County delinquent tax roll.
Jim did not disclose that he had diverted funds
earmarked specifically for taxes to other expenses at the December, January, February, March or April Board meetings. His
financial reports to the Board made no mention of either EARS inability to cover $15,000 worth of past due debts or the property
taxes that the Board assumed had been paid. A second check had to be written by Jaxzann Riggs to bring the taxes current.
· Prior to their termination and while receiving approximately
$7,410.00 combined income from EARS on a monthly basis, the North’s formed a new corporation with a name that was similar
to that used by our retail sister company PawZazz. The formation of the company was never mentioned to the EARS Board.
The Board had full confidence in Jim’s reporting and our relationship with him. We are greatly disappointed
that the trust we put in him was misplaced and abused. This will not happen in the future. The Board has put procedures
in place and will continue to monitor the daily activities and all finances of both EARS and PawZazz for Pets.
In the 10 weeks since our first discovery of the financial mismanagement of EARS
by Jim North, as well as Carol North, and their subsequent termination, we have made great strides for the animals in our
care:
· Dr. and Dixie Lott are donating their time
and knowledge and providing expert healthcare at only the cost of medication. In spite of the turmoil surrounding the past
2.5 months, EARS has adopted 108 animals year-to-date and we are currently caring for 80 in our foster homes. In the last
several weeks, as we have begun to regain control of our operation, our adoption rates have increased dramatically.
· Our dedicated staff members, Michelle Adams and Petra Sheehan-Kurpeski,
have taken on additional responsibilities and are performing above and beyond all expectations.
·
A new group of volunteers and fosters have joined our existing volunteers and fosters to get everything done and to provide
for our animals.
· Our Board has taken on an active
roll in the day to day operation to insure our commitment to the community and to our animals is met within the guidelines
of our organization, with all of our time and funding donated to animals, with no expense incurred by EARS.
· The staff, volunteers, fosters and Board all work without any type
of expense reimbursement, which was not the case with Jim and Carol North. The elimination of their positions has saved
EARS an average of nearly $2,000.00 per month in expenses plus their salaries of approximately $7410.00.
·
PawZazz for Pets, our retail adoption facility now under the expert management of Chey Soares, has done more business, created
more friends and adopted more cats in the past 10 weeks than ever before. It continues to grow in leaps and bounds.
· The newsletter, previously done by salaried Carol North
is now being written by a wonderful volunteer, Roy Van Horn. You will be able to view the newsletter on the EARS web
site and you’ll see the first printed issue on October 1. Roy’s suggestion that the newsletter be made available
to those who might enjoy it online will result in a substantial savings to EARS. We are thankful for his management of this
most important communication tool.
· We currently
have three employees: Michelle Adams and Petra Sheehan-Kurpeski, who are paid by EARS and Chey Soares who is paid by PawZazz
for Pets. In addition to taking on extra responsibilities when Jim and Carol were terminated, our employees work hours
far in excess of their salary and joyfully participate in all of our events, donating time and energy for the benefit of our
animals.
· The day to day operation of EARS is being
overseen by the Executive Committee members, Mary Skaggs and Nancy Colby, with support from the remainder of the Board, with
absolutely no reimbursement or expense.
· Jaxzann
Riggs continues to personally donate funds to EARS, to the sum of $8,000.00. She has also given EARS an interest free
loan in the sum of $40,000.00.
Jaxzann has also very generously purchased the DeSoto county land back from
EARS in order to give us operating cash and to insure EARS succeeds.
We could not build our sanctuary there,
but the land was an asset. The Board voted unanimously on August 3 to allow Jaxzann to purchase it so it could remain
in the hand of an EARS supporter for future evaluation and consideration after the market value increases.
In the meantime, the purchase insures that EARS can remain financially viable during reorganization.
The
Board, the staff and our volunteers are working around the clock to restore the community’s confidence in us, to develop
new relationships and to put this all behind us.
While we have a lot of work ahead of us, we
look brightly to the future.
Our animals are happy and healthy and EARS remains strong.
It is our goal to always operate in a completely transparent fashion and to be responsible stewards of funds donated
for the care of our animals.
If you would like to personally review the documentation that supports this
statement, an Executive Committee member will be available to meet with you.
.It is our hope that after you have
read this statement and understand the facts, you will consider helping us even more than you have in the past.
We understand why you may have been hesitant to donate to us while we were in turmoil but we can assure you now, that we
are headed solidly in an honest and steady direction towards a new and improved EARS Animals Rescue Sanctuary
.
We need you now!
We need your support, both financially and as volunteers and fosters.
Please let us know
you’re still with EARS, you still believe in EARS and you will support us.
Thank you.
Very sincerely,
The Board of Directors
EARS Animal Rescue Sanctuary

ONE LAST QUESTION
I have one last question .How can EARS board
of directors let this happen to the donors of this community ?
In Closing
I hope you see why Puffy Paws Kitty Haven never ever wanted to be associated
and or confused with EARS.
Puffy Paws does not have what EARS does when it comes
to resources.
But what we do have is still our name.
And we will be dammed if we let anyone out in the Comunnity take away from the kitties
we love by still creating confusion in the public eye.
Thats why we had to set the record straight !
Remember their is only
one original Paws in this town and it's Puffy !
We are wondering how is EARS going to
use their PR Spin machine and lawyers to spin this one ?
