Puffy Paws Update - December 21, 2008

Wow this Holiday Season is flying by.

We are having some work done by Comcast so our regular contact phone number will not be available until Christmas  Eve, so if you need to get into contact with us please call  (941) 681 - 1000.

We have been getting some national attention recently. It stared in October when ZooToo.com came out and did a story on us.

And last week, this lead us making the New York Post - Pet News with the same story that is on ZooToo.com.

We have been getting mad hits and donations from the good folks who live in the great white North because of this great exposure. Can you believe it ?  The New York Post ! Click on the picture on the right to view the video and story.

Now we also made it on two more Web sites, www. icanhascheezburger.com which linked the New York Post page about us and a very cool Web site called stuffonmycat.com, provided a link to our Web site on their Web site. How cool is that !

So now we are receiving  a lot of attention nation wide and lots of wonderful people are signing our guest book and some even donated to the kitties on-line.

We are very grateful for this.

And another thing that we are grateful for is this wonderful community we live in, and all the animal lovers out there who became Puffy Paws Kitty Haven supporters in these hard times.

It was this community who helped us keep the lights on by sending in donations to help pay the FPL bill. It’s this Community that keeps yummy food in the kitties tummies all year around.

We can not thank all of you good folks for helping out all year around.

We would also like to thank the folks who have been donating supplies for The Kitty Supply Drive For The Holidays .

Lots of goodies are being dropped off at Mike’s Pet Store, Big Lots and Loving Care Animal Hospital, all in Englewood. So if you would like to drop some goodies off for kitties you still have time.

We had a very successful Open House on Saturday, old friends and new friends of the kitties stopped by and dropped off lots of goodies ! We are so happy that these Open Houses are working out so well for the kitties.

Don’t forget we have, Open House every Monday and Wednesday between the hours of 4pm-8pm and Saturdays between the hours of 1pm - 5pm.

We are changing our path just a little bit over here at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven.

With all this national attention of late and due to recent events at the Haven we are now going to focus our energy on a National Awareness Campaign through the Internet and media, that certain physical, emotional, behavioral and medical conditions that some kitties have should not warrant a death sentence.

As many of you know we specialize in taking care of special need kitties that would have been euthanized at other highly publicized traditional shelters and or rescues because of their medical conditions.

We always have been set up to handle the different medical concerns the kitties have by separating them into their very own living quarters in two different buildings.

We have the 2000 sq foot " Haven Home " which house our healthy adoptable kitties, and our permanent residence of the Haven, who have physical, emotional and behavioral problems.

Our second building is 800 sq foot and is refereed to as the Kitty Angel Club.
Our kitties with FIV or Feline Leukemia are housed in two separated 400 sq feet rooms.

The kitties that are members of the Kitty Angel Club are living angels because they would have been euthanized at other tradition shelters and rescues for the medical condition they have.

In a few short weeks the members of
the Kitty Angel Club, will be enjoying an out-door, free-standing, backyard fence system thanks to the folks from Purr...fect fence.

This portion of the Haven will be called
the Kitty Angel Park .

So over here at Puffy Paws we still will have a great  adoption program and we still will do what we do best , take care of the physical, emotional, behavioral and medically inflicted kitties that no one wants.

But one thing will change in 2009.

America will know about the kitties at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven !

Until next time.

Puffy Paws Update - December 15, 2008

The kitties over here at Puffy Paws wishes everyone a Happy Holiday! We have been busy as beavers taking care of the spoiled kitties every needs.

The Kitty Supply Drive For The Holidays is going very well.
Lots of goodies are being dropped off at Mike’s Pet Store, Big Lots and Loving Care Animal Hospital, all in Englewood . So if you would like to drop some goodies off , please do !

We can not thank  the good folks in the community enough for your kindness in donating yummy food, toys and all kind of good stuff for the kitties.

We have had 2 more kitties adopted out this week which was really nice.

I was on WENG ( 1530 AM / 107.5 FM )  radio last Monday, for those of you who do not know, we now have a kitty of the week featured on Scott Holcomb’s Morning Magazine and we get to bring a kitty or kitten in the studio once a month.

We brought beautiful Pumpkin this time around. It was a really great time and we can not thank Scott enough for all he does for the kitties over here at Puffy Paws.

For those of who would like a little bit more information on Scott and his show here you go. Scott Holcomb, local radio legend, hosts the MORNING MAGAZINE daily from nine till eleven am.

This program features interviews with local nonprofit organizations as well as new business, political pundits and national personalities. The program is formatted in a fast paced magazine style with interaction with listeners playing an important role. So tune in and enjoy the fun.

On Monday December 15 - Jackie Hart our Volunteer Coordinator
will be on ABC - 7 - News At Noon , with two of the most cutest kittens , Monkey and Pepper.

We would like to thank the Animal Rescues Coalition for giving us this opportunity  to show case our kitties on TV. So tune in and or set your DVR’s to watch Puffy Paws on the Telly, as Jackie would say.

The kitties here at Puffy Paws would like to thank, Suncoast Humane Society , Director of Operations, Cheri Brinson for the generous donation of kitty food last week.

We would also like to thank Vic Ciullo for having that special place in his heart for the kitties.

Our Holiday Adoptathon at Boca Grande on Saturday December 13
at Special Effects of Boca Grande was lots of fun. We had a lot of tire kickers but no takers. We will be holding another Adoptathon either in January or February at Special Effects.

Don’t forgot about our Open House Open House every Monday & Wednesday between the hours of 4 pm - 8 pm  and Saturday between the hours of 1 - 5 pm

Unlike most of the other rescues in the area, Puffy Paws Kitty Haven will be adopting out kittens and kitties as usual during the rest of the Holiday season.

We feel with our adopting guidelines in place and our strict interview and background check, we feel  if we can find one of the kitties a fur-ever home in the holiday season to a qualify adoptee why say no !

We are now on the Do Good Web site sponsored by the Sarasota Herald Tribute.

Until next time.

We have added a cool calendar of events on our Web site. Plus we have changed the look of some of the pages, which makes it a little bit more user friendly.

We adopted out Lexie, the WENG kitty of the week over the weekend.
so this was very good that she found a “ Fur-Ever ” Home !

Also Puffy Paws Kitty Haven, is proud to present its first annual Kitty Supply Drive For The Holidays. If you wish to donate yummy food , toys and other kitty supplies, their will be donation boxes set up at Mike’s Pet Store in Englewood, Big Lots  on 776 and Loving Care Animal Hospital.
Or you may stop in at the Haven and drop them off and see the kitties.

We have over 22 kittens schedule to get vetted in the up coming weeks .So now we are in need of funds to vet these kittens to get them fully ready for adoption. If you would like to help out please donate to the Spray and Neuter Fund.

Hope you all are enjoying your holidays and keep safe.
