Englewood, Florida’s “World’s Greatest Cathouse,“ Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill cat hospice and rescue specializing in providing quality and loving care to special needs cats and finding homes for the adoptable kitties under thier care.

“We care for kitties with feline leukemia, FIV, blind kitties, feral cats, epileptic kitties, kitties with only one eye, senior kitties, kitties that do not use their litter box, kitties with thyroid conditions and more - basically unwanted and unadoptable kitties that would be euthanized elsewhere.”

Here at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven we do not put down any animals for behavior problems, space or adopt-ability issues. Yet Puffy Paws Kitty Haven never has and never will let any kitty suffer with any medical condition that only allows pain & suffering and no chance of survival.

We realize that their is outside forces who believe that their is no such thing as " No-Kill" .

No Kill sheltering models, based on innovative, non-lethal programs and services, have already saved the lives of tens of thousands of animals.

But instead of embracing No Kill, many shelters—and their national agency allies—cling to their failed models of the past, models that result in the killing of millions of dogs and cats in U.S. shelters every year.

Here at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven we wish not to be drawn into public controversy over our " No-Kill "statues, we only wish to save the lives of the unwanted kitties of the Community.

Why We Are Different

Here at Puffy Paws we specialize in taking care of special needs kitties that would have been euthanized else were simply because someone would have deemed them to be unadoptable.

We are set up to handle the different medical concerns the kitties have by separating them into their very own living quarters.

ABC News 7 and The Sarasota Herald Tribute has called Puffy Paws Kitty Haven - " A Bed & Breakfast For Cats ".

Puffy Paws does not believe in cages and all kitties live out their lives in a free roaming, brick and mortar loving home, with founders Rick and Chrissy Kingston.

We have the 2000 sq foot " Haven Home " which has our healthy adoptable kitties, and our permanent residence who have physical, emotional and behavioral problems.

Our 2nd building is 800 sq foot and it is solely use for the kitties with feline leukemia, which we have nick named " The Kitty Angel Club " because all the precious fur-babies are living angels who are living out their lives.

Since the airing of the Video in October 2008 and being on the NEW YORK POST web site. It cost now $250 dollars a day for the kitties daily needs and we have 3,000 dollars in monthly operating expenses. We did obtain our 501(c) (3) non-profit from the IRS. So all donations are tax - ductable.

As you saw in the Video we do not get paid, 100% of all donations goes to the kitties and the monthly opeartion expenses of around $3,000 per month.

Puffy Paws serves a unique need as a hospice for special needs kitties, but with declining donations and increasing costs, the mighty Cathouse is in danger of eventually closing one day without a guaranteed steady stream of working capital.

In these hard economical times, we all know the personal sacrifices each and everyone of you make when you donate to the kitties at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven and for this we will always be grateful.

Fund-raising: The Way It Should Be.

At Puffy Paws our fund raising philosophy is a simple one. Keep operating cost and fund-raising cost to a bare minimum. Be transparent, open and honest. Are books are open to the public.

All donations must go for the direct benefit of the kitties not people. We never have to raise funds for salaries or high administrative cost in the name of animals. We do not get paid !!! We do not have to entice folks to donate by throwing fancy parties,events, golf tournaments, wine tasting contest or the such.

You won't get your picture in the newspaper or in the high society column, or a sumptuous meal and a cocktail hour!!!!

When you donate .What you get is a warm fuzzy knowing you are directly responsible for saving the lives of the special need and unwanted kitties.

In the small town Puffy Paws resides in, early on we found out most town folks pick their rescues like a NFL football team. They pick one team and have disdain for the rest.

Some local folks have tried to shut Puffy Paws Kitty Haven down, when power, money and prestige is involved their will always be dirty deeds abound.

These individuals did not care and or realize the great work we do for the unwanted kitties in their very own community

They just wanted Puffy Paws out of the picture.

What these people did was put the burden of taking care of the kitties on the shoulders of one small woman with the inner strength of a 1000 men - Chrissy Kingston

Please keep in mind Puffy Paws, does have a handful of local supporters, which we are totally grateful for, but their is not enough local support to sustain our mission.

Lucky enough for Puffy Paws word spread over the Internet about our daily dilemma and the kitties are now supported by the love of the cat lovers through out the world.

Our On-Line - “ Just Ask - Hope You Can Help “ - campaign was launched two years ago and has raised over $134,000. Some folks cry they do not like our fund raising tactics. Our reality is the brutal truth. We have never sugar-coated it. Thats why the kitties are alive today because the kitty lovers of the world know about our daily dilemma.Its truth or consequences fund raising. If folks do not donate - We can not take care of the cats and if this happens and if the 3,000 a month operating expense are not paid,we will have to shut down and the cats will die at the hand of others.

I have become a " Social Media High Tech Beggar " it may not be pretty but it works.

100% of all donation goes to the kitties daily needs of $250 dollars a day, and monthly operating expenses of 3,000 dollars !

The cost is $10,750 a month to keep the kitties alive and well at Puffy Paws.

With all of our heart and soul we can muster there is no easier softer way to say this. We need a influx of working capital to continue with our mission here at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven. Our options are limited at this time, but there is hope on the horizon and that is you.

If we fail at raising the funds everyday needed to take care of the kitties under our care there will be no other option but to close down. What choice would we have ?

A whole Cat Hospice will be wiped out and only painful and sad stories will be told because we could not round up the World Wide awareness and financial help these beautiful cats deserve.

2. ADOPTIONS WHILE ARE HANDS ARE TIED

In the Spring of 2007 - Puffy Paws Kitty Haven started its adoption program. Since than we have found over 300 kitties "Fur-Ever" homes.

It was easier back in the day when we could have "Open House" three times a week at the Haven, till Sarasota County banned all traffic to the Haven, including, volunteers, adoptions and surrenders.

After the ban we adopted the kitties at PetSmart but that did not work out for us. Than we wanted a RV to for a Mobil adoption center and we still do but a running RV, one that we can drive and go.

We did purchased a RV, which turned out to be a lemon. So we sold it and are in need of a good used running RV. Please watch the SNN News Story.

Currently,we are working on having a monthly adoption event and we will have kitties at Loving Care Animal Hosptial for adoption and kitty adoptions are by appointment at Mike's Pet Shop in Englewood, through out the month.

2. Virtually Adopt A Special Need Kitty For A Year

With so many Special Need & Unwanted kitties at the Haven. We have decided to open up the areas first Virtual Adoption Center where you as a cat lover, may virtually adopt any one of our kitties on-line.

Everyday we must ask for help from Cat Lovers from all over the world, so that we may keep continuing our mission in helping the special need & unwanted kitties under our care.

Our goal is to seek 1000 new adoptees who like to donate on a monthly credit card subscription basics of starting at $10 a month by virtual adopting one of our Special Need or Unwanted kitties .

Your monthly donations will give us enough funds to take care of the kitties and working monthly capital to fund the entire operation at Puffy Paws to guaranteethe success of Puffy Paws Kitty Haven future.

When virtually adopting a Special Need Kitty or unwanted Kitty, your kitty stays at Puffy Paws Kitty Haven while being supported by your monthly gift.

We need all the help we can get over here at Puffy Paws. On May 1st, 2011. The Englewood Sun Herald published a letter to the Editor in which I wrote begging for help from our community.

My wife and I are only two people running Englewood, Florida's "World's Greatest Cathouse." Puffy Paws Kitty Haven is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, no-kill cat hospice & rescue specializing in providing quality and loving care to special needs cats; we have 100 adoptable kitties that need homes.

Our current help consists of a few volunteers and the court ordered Community Service Personnel. These people are folks who got into trouble and are trying to pay their debts to society.

We have been begging this community for help for years with adoptions , PR, and fund-raising events.

We finally have a handful of volunteers who put on a monthly adoption event but that is not enough; we need more people.

While the Humane Society and other rescue groups in the area enjoy paid employees and a host of volunteers, we do not.

We do not get paid; 100% of all donation goes to the kitties and the operating expenses. Are books are open to the public.

Last year I raised $94,000 by myself, just by asking for help and $54,000 of that came from kitty lovers from around the world donating through Paypal.

The very sad reality is that the only ones who suffered were the community cats that we could not help because we could not take them in and find homes.
